President Sadyr Japarov paid an official visit to Azerbaijan on April 19-20. This was reported in the presidential administration.
They said that Japarov met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on April 20 at the Presidential Palace. The heads of state talked in a tête-à-tête format, and then in an expanded format, about cooperation in trade, culture and investment.
As a result of the negotiations, 10 bilateral documents and agreements were signed, including the Declaration on Strategic Partnership.
“After the talks, Japarov met with major Azerbaijani businessmen and urged them to invest in projects in Kyrgyzstan,” the administration added.
He invited them to invest in small and medium-sized hydropower plants in the country, including the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1, which they want to build for 30 years. Head of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov, who visited Washington, is also looking for investors for the construction of this hydroelectric power station.
