The Constitutional Court (CC) considered the constitutionality of the law “On Amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus” in an open court session in the manner of mandatory preliminary review. This is stated in his decision No. Р-1280/2021 of October 7, 2021, which was officially published today on the National Legal Internet Portal, BelTA informs.
The Law on Amendments to the Constitution, the provisions of which provide for the introduction of amendments to the Constitution, was adopted to improve the constitutional provisions on the electoral system of Belarus.
In particular, Article 67 of the Constitution, which provides that elections of deputies are direct, is supplemented by a part according to which elections of deputies are held on a single voting day. This means that elections for both the House of Representatives and local Councils of Deputies will be held on the same day.
