The court ordered the Ministry of Internal Affairs to compensate the damage to the victim on June 20.
The Tbilisi City Court ordered the Georgian Interior Ministry to pay 35 thousand lari to Luka Petriashvili, who was injured during an anti-occupation protest rally in the centre of Tbilisi on the night of June 20-21, 2019.
According to the court’s decision, the Interior Ministry will pay Petriashvili 15 thousand lari for material damage and 20 thousand lari for moral damage. According to the victim’s lawyer Beka Basilaia, Petriashvili “was hit by an orange bullet fired by the police in the area of the face and jaw,” and he is still being treated.
According to him, the court’s decision is “a significant precedent” for other victims in the same case, and the court must make similar decisions for them “in a short time.”
