The Pechersk court of Kyiv has seized all the property and assets of the chairman of the European Solidarity party and former head of state Petro Poroshenko. The relevant decision was made by Judge Vita Bortnytska.
The property the court decided to seize includes apartments in Vinnytsia and Kyiv, an estate in Kozyn, land plots, and shares in private companies.
The lawyer of the politician Igor Golovan reported about it. The decision was made at the request of the prosecutor’s office to seize all the property and assets of the politician, who is currently on vacation.
Poroshenko’s defense has already announced that it will appeal the court’s decision. Lawyer Ihor Holovan stressed that the defenders consider the case a political persecution of Poroshenko.
The fifth president is a suspect in a case of treason. The proceedings are being investigated under Part 1 and Part 3 of Art. 258-5 (terrorist financing), Part 1 of Art. 111 (treason) and Part 1 of Art. 258-3 (creation of a terrorist organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Poroshenko is suspected of facilitating the activities of terrorist organizations “LPR” and “DPR”, acting by prior agreement with a group of people, including representatives of Russia’s top leadership, in particular by purchasing coal from the self-proclaimed “republics” for a total amount about 1.5 billion hryvnias.
