he Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov commented on the situation in Afghanistan and also raised the issue of recognizing the Taliban government.
“It is clear that today a completely new reality has developed in Afghanistan. There are, of course, different approaches regarding the recognition or non-recognition of the interim government of this country. We believe that the issue of recognizing the government is a two-way road. That is, it is necessary to move towards: an interim government must fulfill its promises, and there were many. These are practically the same conditions and requirements that the international community makes,” the minister said during a press conference following a meeting with Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics.
According to him, on the other hand, the international community should encourage any positive steps and changes taken in Afghanistan. It is necessary to work with this government, conduct a dialogue, influence, inform about approaches and conditions from the international community. In this way, to bring positions closer, to promote changes for the better.
