Russian President Vladimir Putin does not plan bilateral meetings with politicians other than Chinese President Xi Jinping at the opening of the Beijing Olympics on February 4. But the Kremlin does not rule out his contacts with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky
According to Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov in a comment to TASS , the organizers of the ceremony are forced to impose strict restrictions on both athletes and guests, including politicians.
According to Peskov, for obvious reasons, there are no bilateral meetings in Putin’s schedule. Journalists then asked if they had discussed possible contacts with President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is also likely to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
“There are no plans for such a meeting now. Although we cannot completely rule it out,” the spokesman said.
We will add that in Office of the president Zelensky didn’t report on plans of the head of the state to visit opening of the Olympic Games.
It will be recalled that, as UNIAN reported, Chinese President Xi Jinping could have asked Putin not to carry out a large-scale invasion of Ukraine during the Winter Olympics. They are scheduled for February 4 – 20.
