The radical Taliban movement (banned in Kyrgyzstan. – Approx. 24.kg news agency) on August 15 announced full control over Afghanistan. Government forces surrendered cities and provinces virtually without a fight.
The situation in the country changed dramatically after the military personnel of the United States and other NATO states decided to leave the country.
The expert community voices various forecasts about the development of the situation. Many analysts believe that the Taliban will try to continue expanding their zone of influence, including in the Central Asian states, primarily Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
24.kg news agency decided to find out how the aggravation of the situation threatens Kyrgyzstan.
Bad experience
Kyrgyzstan already has a sad experience of outside invasion. The Batken events of 1999 and 2000 showed that the militants can easily break through our border, and the Armed Forces will not be ready to repulse the bandit formations.
