Total investment in Azerbaijan’s economy fell by 7.6 percent year-on-year to 5.9 billion manats ($3.5 billion) in the first half of 2021, the State Statistics Committee.
The share of domestic investment amounted to 61 percent in the first six months of this year and totalled 3.6 billion manats. The foreign investment amounted to 2.3 billion manats.
Investment in the oil and gas sector declined by 2.8 percent to 2.7 billion manats, while investment in the non-oil sector fell by 11.3 percent to 3.2 billion manats, the committee said.
In January-June, 2.4 billion manats or 54.4 percent of total capital investment, was directed to extracting industry, 1.2 billion manats – to the construction of service sector, 1.2 billion manats – to residential construction.
In 2020, capital investment in fixed assets in Azerbaijan declined by 8.3 percent due to restrictions amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
