The Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Denis Shmygal, and the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Turkey, Mehmet Mush, signed a free trade agreement between Ukraine and Turkey between the governments of both countries.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, this happened during today’s visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Kyiv.
Yesterday, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft free trade agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Turkey.
The basis of the agreement is the zeroing of customs duties by Turkey on 10 thousand 137 commodity items, which is 95% of the total number of goods. In addition, tariff quotas or reduced duties will apply to another 1,348 commodity items. Today, Ukraine imports only one tenth of these goods to Turkey.
President Volodymyr Zelensky has already commented on the signing of this agreement.
“I congratulate everyone on this important step. Thank you to our teams for negotiating. We have come a long, difficult way to open new horizons of our cooperation. These are new business opportunities. These are new markets, new achievements, new profits, new jobs, investments, GDP growth of our states and the well-being of our peoples, “he said.
