The state budget of Ukraine in 2020 did not receive almost 280 billion hryvnias due to smuggling flows at the customs border.

“According to our calculations, the direct losses of the state budget in 2020 (related to the sale of contraband, counterfeit and unaccounted for goods) amounted to almost 280 billion UAH,” he said.

The League stressed that in 2020 the size of the shadow economy amounted to 30.8% of gross domestic product (GDP), and in monetary terms was 1 trillion 864 billion UAH (in 2019 – 1 trillion 824 billion UAH, 31.5%).

“This has pushed our economy to countries with non-market, transition economies, which are estimated to have a shadow economy of 30 to 50% of GDP. The amount of smuggling in 2020 is UAH 470 billion (UAH 537 billion in 2019),” he said. he.
