In 2021, the absolute record for the volume of poultry meat exports was renewed – 459 thousand tons, and the value of its sales increased by 29% (716 million dollars).

According to the Institute of Agrarian Economics, Bohdan Dukhnytskyi, a senior researcher at the Department of Agricultural Production Economics and International Integration, made this announcement.

“In general, in 2021 Ukraine managed to increase revenue from exports of meat and offal by 30% – up to 846 million dollars. In addition to growth in foreign sales of poultry meat, there was also an increase in frozen beef,” said the expert.

According to him, at this time domestic meat products are exported to the Middle East, other parts of Asia, the European Union, the CIS and Africa. At the same time, the share of EU countries in value terms was 24%.

Saudi Arabia tops the list of importers of Ukrainian meat, which buys exclusively poultry meat from Ukraine. She made her first purchases in 2015. And already in 2020 the export of Ukrainian poultry meat to Saudi Arabia reached 83 thousand tons worth 136 million dollars. Last year, Saudi Arabia purchased 101,000 tons of Ukrainian meat products worth $ 190 million, increasing its share in our exports to 22.5%.

The Netherlands, which led the TOP-10 in 2017-2019, holds the second place with a share of 16.1% – in terms of purchases of Ukrainian meat about 58 thousand tons worth 136 million dollars.

The shares of China (7.2%), the UAE (4.7%), Slovakia (4.7%), Azerbaijan (3.9%), Belarus (3.6%) and Kazakhstan (3.5%) are also significant. ).

“Протягом всього 2021 року тривала заборона для українських експортерів на поставки курятини в Європейський Союз з тих регіонів нашої країни, де був виявлений пташиний грип, однак це не вплинуло істотно на підсумкові показники”, – підсумував Духницький.
