Ukraine is increasing the volume and rate of grain exports against the background of record harvests of wheat and barley in 2021.
This is evidenced by data from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
Since the beginning of the current marketing year (MR, July 2021 – June 2022) and as of October 18, 16.5 million tons of grain have been shipped in Ukraine, which is 1.7 million tons more than on the same date last year.
In particular, wheat was exported 10.7 million tons (700 thousand tons more), barley – more than 4 million tons (720 thousand tons more). 1.5 million tons of corn were also shipped, which is still being harvested.
In total, Ukraine plans to export 24.5 million tons of wheat, 5.2 million tons of barley and 30.8 million tons of corn this season. Together with other crops, the total grain export in 2021-2022 MY should be 61.5 million tons.
