Ukrainian hryvnia bonds to be included in the JP Morgan GBI EM index
Ukraine’s government bonds claim to be included in the JP Morgan GBI EM index starting from March 31, 2022, the country’s Finance Ministry said.
“On October 12, 2021, JP Morgan Global Index Research announced that Ukraine’s government bonds apply for inclusion in the GBI-EM GD index, starting from March 31, 2022 with an approximate share of 0.12 percent,” the ministry said in a statement.
In the first stage, all three series of GBI-EM will include one series of bonds that meet the requirements of the index – IGLBs with a coupon of 15.84 percent and maturity in February 2025.
The portfolio of foreign investments in Ukrainian government bonds issued on the domestic market has grown significantly since the launch of the link with Clearstream in 2019, and the share of non-residents in the IGLBs market has grown to more than 10 percent.
