On January 25, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced the launch of a call for applications from researchers and research groups under the Applied Research Initiative Support Program.
The initiative is implemented by the USAID Agribusiness Development Project and aims to support the scientific community of Uzbekistan in conducting practical research to address existing challenges in the field of agribusiness.
Applied research is a source of knowledge and innovation in agriculture. They help unlock new technologies, increase farm productivity and improve food quality. In Uzbekistan, farmers and private enterprises often lack the support of the scientific community and access to innovative solutions. By creating synergies between academia and agribusiness, USAID will facilitate the adoption of new technologies by farmers and private enterprises, which will further enhance their competitiveness.
