Uzbekistan increases electricity production by 9.4 pct yr/yr in January-October
Uzbekistan has produced 57.1 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) electricity in January-October of this year, increasing by 4.9 billion kWh or 9.4 percent compared to the same period of 2020, the State Statistics Committee said.
Uzbekistan has been facing growing demand for electricity in recent years, especially in the winter season and the Energy Ministry said that it plans to deliver 12.5 percent more electricity to customers than last season.
The ministry said the country’s hydropower plants had reduced electricity generation by about 23 percent due to water shortages this year.
