President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, while visiting the Khatyn state memorial complex, ordered to build a museum here for the 80th anniversary of the tragedy and carry out all the necessary restoration work, BelTA has learned.
“It means that next year it will be 80 years. Everything from Minsk to Khatyn, starting from the roads, must be completed.
As director of “Khatyn” Artur Zelsky reported to the head of state, the memorial complex is planned to be overhauled with modernization and restoration elements. The first phase of construction is scheduled for 2022. It includes the cleaning of the sculpture “The Invincible Man”, the repair of the pedestal, the “Roof of the Barn” monument and the “Crown of Memory” memorial, the restoration of the granite slabs of the “Last Road” road.
During the second stage of construction, it is planned to repair the memorials “Cemetery of Villages” and “Trees of Life”, concrete fences of burial places, urns with earth. Work is also scheduled for 2022.
